Jakarta Life

I've been in Jakarta for 1 week and there are a lot of news things that I experience during my 1st week in Jakarta:
1. Busway Ride
Daily take busway to office. In a way almost similar with Singapore MRT, but this is a bus. I took the bus from the 1st station, so this justify why I always get seat in the morning. The fees is reasonable, if you come before 7am is Rp2000 (SGD 0.40), and if you come after 7am it will be Rp3500 (SGD 0.60). The ride from 1st station to my end destination (office in Sudirman) is quite enjoyable. However, it was the queue at the station that is a big turn off. People just cramp together to the door trying to get into the bus. This is the time when all the snatch and pick pocketer get into action.

2. The Downside in the Social Life
Thursday I went with my sis/bestfren to Senayan City and I have to go back home at 8.20pm when we halfway drink our coffee at Starbucks because its late.
Saturday the 1st weekend in Jakarta, my kolik ask me to join them for dinner at Ancol. They come and fetch me at 7pm. By 8, my mother has called me 2 times to check when I am and where I am going. By 10pm, she called if I on the way back home yet. and I am home at 11pm. From now own I guess my friends will think twice if they want to ask me out again.
On Monday, I went with my schoolmate for dinner after office hour. 8.30pm my mom called saying that she is almost arrive.

3. Went with parents
Other than a total suicide in my social life, I guess I like go out for dinner with my parents. Staying at home to watch TV with parents is a nice change too.

I so completely know what you mean with parents calling. When I was in Jkt and wanted to go out with my ex-colleagues...my parents called me more than 5 times in a span of 2 hours...unbelievable..same questions: where are you? how long till you are there? what time are you reaching there? how long you gonna be there? who's there? is it raining? traffic jam? ask the driver to drive slowly, etc etc etc etc etc etc...hahahahaha....
